Riddles, Riddles, Riddles!

Ooo, yes, as you can tell from the title I am going to be giving you some of my toughest riddles for you to answer in this post. So, let the guessing begin (to quote Jake from the Teenage Writer). :P

1. A man is 20 years old in 1980, but only 15 years old in 1985. How is this possible?
2. What has roots that nobody sees, and is taller than trees. Up, up it goes, and yet it never grows.
3. What's black when you get it, Red when you use it, And white when you're all through with it?

4. Two convicts are locked in a cell. There is an unbarred window high up in the cell. No matter if they stand on the bed or one on top of the other they can't reach the window to escape. They then decide to tunnel out. However, they give up with the tunneling because it will take too long. Finally one of the convicts figures out how to escape from the cell. What is his plan?
5.Name an eight letter word that has kst in the middle, in the beginning, and at the end.

 Enjoy guessing!

Hunter Brown Top 100 Amazon!

Hunter Brown is going for Amazon Top 100 - You can help us reach our dream and get a FREE gift too!

We've been monitoring our Amazon.com sales rank recently and noticed something peculiar. From the data we've gathered some of the bestselling authors in our category are just over one-hundred copies ahead of us in sales this month.

This gave us an idea...(a pretty crazy idea that could potentially earn our book "amazon bestseller" status in our category)...but we need your help!
It's only 3 steps and you get something FREE for helping out so please read on.

  1. This Friday only (July 23rd) we'd like for everyone that has enjoyed our books to buy just one more copy of Hunter Brown and the Consuming Fire for $10 on Amazon.com. If you want to buy the first book in the series for $11 on Amazon you can do that as well...but for the purposes of this promotion we are looking for Book 2 sales. Only book 2 sales will be eligible for the FREE GIFT. It is important you buy from the link below and you finish your purchase before midnight on Friday July 23rd (pacific time) to be eligible.

  2. After your purchase is complete, please email a copy of your Amazon.com invoice to us at millerbros@millerbrothersbooks.com for confirmation of your order. Be sure to include your shipping address to receive your FREE GIFT...
  3. So, what is the FREE GIFT? Well, it depends on how quickly you act! All remaining participants will receive one of three personally autographed bookmarks featuring one of the characters from the Hunter Brown and the Consuming Fire book.

YOU DO THE MATH! Buy a $10 book and get a $13 keychain for FREE? That's like putting $3 in your pocket. It's what we call a win/win...but that's not all...

EXTRA BONUS! Since we're in a "promotional" kind of mood (and we really want this whole Amazon.com test to work out) we're going to send you an exclusive download of a desktop wallpaper for Book 3 in the Codebearers Series...Hunter Brown and the Eye of Ends (coming Nov 2010). This exclusive artwork will only be available for download by those who participate in the Amazon.com blast.

Set your reminder alarms! Your order could be the very one that pushes us over the top into the bestseller status this month.

Don't Forget to Spread the Word!!!
Even if you can't order one yourself, be sure to repost a link to our blog in your own Facebook/Twitter/Blog account so others can take advantage of this opportunity and help us break the best-seller status. Just use the link below when referring to the offer.

!Rock the River!

Just a few week's back I found out that there is going to be a Christian band tour in the West Coast. I am not excited about the event it's self, but rather the bands that are playing (Skillet, Starfield, TFK, The almost, Tedashii, and of course Downhere.)
So, if any of you are out this way, or live in Vancouver (or are near it) then I would suggest that you try to make an effort to see it.

Here is a small preview on it, check it out. (Oh, I should mention that it is dedicated to teens...just to let you know) :P

10 Things You Will Never Hear Your Dad Say

Top Ten Things You'll Never Hear A Dad Say

10. Well, how 'bout that? I'm lost! Looks like we'll have to stop and ask for directions.

9. You know Pumpkin, now that you're thirteen, you'll be ready for unchaperoned car dates. Won't that be fun?

8. I noticed that all your friends have a certain hostile attitude. I like that.

7. Here's a credit card and the keys to my new car. GO CRAZY!!

6. What do you mean you wanna play football? Figure skating's not good enough for you, son?

5. Your Mother and I are going away for the weekend. You might want to consider throwing a party.

4. Well, I don't know what's wrong with your car. Probably one of those doo-hickey thingies--ya know--that makes it run or something. Just have it towed to a mechanic and pay whatever he asks.

3. No son of mine is going to live under this roof without an earring. Now quit your belly-aching, and let's go to the mall.

2. Whaddya wanna go and get a job for? I make plenty of money for you to spend.

1. What do I want for my birthday? Aahh -- don't worry about that. It's no big deal. (Okay, they might say it. But they don't mean it)

Lol, I found this too funny to resist posting it. Hope you enjoy!

9 things you should know about J.R.R Tolkien

Out of curiosity I decided to search up about J.R.R Tolkien and his history. And this is what I found!

1. He had a flair for the dramatic.

As a linguist and expert on Old English and Old Norse literature, Tolkien was a tenured professor at Oxford University from 1925 until 1959. He was also a tireless instructor, teaching between 70 and 136 lectures a year (his contract only called for 36). But the best part is the way he taught those classes. Although quiet and unassuming in public, Tolkien wasn’t the typical stodgy, reserved stereotype of an Oxford don in the classroom. He was known to begin classes by barging into the lecture hall, sometimes in era-appropriate chain mail armor, and bellowing the opening lines of Beowulf at the top of his lungs. As one of his students put it, “He could turn a lecture room into a mead hall.”

2. He didn’t share your enthusiasm for Hobbits.

Tolkien saw himself as a scholar first and a writer second. It always irked him that his scholarly works went largely unknown by the general public, who flocked to his fantasy writings. The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings were largely Tolkien’s attempt to construct a body of myth, and their success caught him largely unaware. In fact, he spent years rejecting, criticizing and shredding adaptations of his work that he didn’t believe captured its epic scope and noble purpose! He was also utterly skeptical of most LOTR fans, who he thought incapable of really appreciating the work, and he probably would have probably been horrified by movie fandom dressing up like Legolas.

3. He loved his day job.

To Tolkien, writing fantasy fiction was simply a hobby. The works he considered most important were his scholarly works, which included Beowulf: The Monsters and the Critics, a modern translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and A Middle English Vocabulary.

4. He was quite the romantic (and he’s got the nerdy gravestone to prove it).
